a time gone by when the pleasure boat "The Japonica:,

Hemmingway would have felt right at home in the Estes Flat
Room!
It is a real-life
popular fishing hole here in the Texas Coastal Bend.
From this spot, you'll pull out trophy-size redfish and
experience the fast fishing action that only a large
Speckled Trout can deliver. Flounder also abound
in our clean bays and estuaries. Picture yourself
on a boat with a light wind blowing in your face.
Your line's in the water, everything is quiet...when
suddenly you shout "Fish On!" The Estes Flats
Room
is a fun and adventurous place!
Wading & pier fishing is good all year. If you'd really
like to get out on the
water for deep sea or bay fishing, do
hire a USCG licensed captain.

McGloin
Bluff Room
(Irish Empresario
James McGloin)
Photo coming soon!

"The first burst of color in the
spring of 1856 was fading, but summer's green colored the
tree-lined land that led to the new dwelling house of
Empresario James. He originally had set-up camp in the
Copano Bay area (about 35 nautical miles up the coastline),
but due to the lack of fresh drinking water and at the urging
of the ship's priest, they moved south into the Corpus Christi
Bay and settled at a bluff that the priest had mentioned.
There they found fresh water springs and the area was renamed
after McGloin. He was the first Irish settler along our
part of the coast.
